Directors

Dave McDermott has been serving as the Director of Riverside since March of 1997. Before the Lord called Dave to Riverside he had spent over 23 years in the banking industry in several Iowa cities.  Jan has been serving as Associate Director since the fall of 1998 and has been heading up the Riverside Ranch program since the moment she arrived.

Dave and Jan have a passion for the Lord that is evident in their love for people and for the ministry. During the busy summer season Dave and Jan take on the roll of “mom and dad” for the 80+ summer staff members.

They have 5 children and 10 grandchildren who they adore and love to play with:

• Tonya and her husband Chris (Michael, born Dec. 2003, and Jonathan, born Nov. 2006)
• Julie and her husband Jason (Zoe, born Aug. 2006, Elijah, born June 2008, Caia, born in November 2011)
• Chad and his wife Danette (Kylie, born Oct. 2006, and Alexis, born March 2010)
• Shar and her husband Jerod (Hunter, born Dec. 2006, Gavin, born April 2009, Kenya, born May 1, 2011)
• Jay who is 19 years old and attending DMACC.

Dave oversees all areas of the ministry of Riverside and spends much time with the budget, the board of directors, administration, development, our capital campaign plans and about a million other items that are too many to mention here. Jan is Director of Riverside's Horse Program, Director of Adult programming, oversees the youth programs, conducts the Annual Quilt Auction.

The McDermott's continue to be a tremendous blessing to the camp as they provide solid leadership, listening ears, open arms, praying hands and great big hearts. Dave and Jan welcome your comments and dreams about the ministry of Riverside.
