About - Staff - Program Staff

Dan has been hanging around Riverside since he began coming here as a camper in the 4th grade. Since then he has worked as a Junior Counselor, Senior Counselor, Program Coordinator, Development Director, and finally as a Program Director again.

Dan will be the first to tell you that it's not the buildings or the grounds that makes Riverside the coolest place on earth. The reason why Riverside is so amazing is because the Love and Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is so evident here. Dan is convinced that you can sing all the songs you want, and have the best skits in the world, but without the Love of Jesus it is worthless.

Dan's focus as Program Coordinator is to make sure that all of the events that Riverside offers continue to proclaim the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ! Dan's job is made easier by the other staff, both summer and year-round, whose focus is the same. May Jesus forever be proclaimed on the Holy Ground of Riverside Bible Camp!

Jason served as a YMT at Riverside for 2 years before heading off to Colorado, The Rocky Mountain State, to serve as a youth director.

But now we have him back, to serve once again at Riverside as the Outdoor and Youth Ministries Director. His duties include, but are not limited to working with the junior counselors, YMT advocate, camp store manager and is the leader of off-site trips.

We are so grateful of the gifts that Jason is bringing into the ministry here at Riverside. Jason, his wife, Julie, and their daughter, Zoe, live in Story City with their dog Simon.

Brian D. Burrier is on the full time staff assisting Dan Scharnhorst with programming and also designs different projects for Riverside as well us updating and designing the Riverside website.

Brian has worked at Riverside since the summer of 2001 as a senior counselor the first two summers, and as the Camp Store manager the last five summers. He was also on the youth ministry team from 2004 - 2006. One of Brian’s passions is designing shirts, buttons, stickers, hats, sweatshirts, and items for the Camp Store. He also enjoys doing freelance for churches or groups who need shirts, posters, or anything designed.

Brian grew up in Urbandale, IA and graduated from Wartburg College in 2004 with a B.A. in Studio Art and Graphic Design. His other interests include: playing the guitar, bass, and recently drums, collecting and listening to music, collecting widgets for his dashboard, and playing on his computer.
