2011 Women’s Retreat: "WOW! Wholehearted Living"

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.” Deut. 6:5

Alicia Economos, our speaker from Des Moines, helped us learn to de-clutter our lives, our bodies, our earthly relationships, and our relationship with God. This will help us to love God as Deuteronomy instructs us! We enjoyed digging into God’s Word, worship, a time of solitude, small group discussions, trail rides, a hayride, campfire with s’mores, and laughing! It all added up to a very God-blessed weekend.

Each gal brought a white pillow case to decorate for each of the children from Beloit, a Lutheran Services of Iowa Children’s Residential Treatment Center in Ames. The children were so excited to receive these gifts with their names! Thank you, gals! What a joy it is to give!

“I loved getting to be at the Retreat with my sister, and now I can say “all my sisters!” “Alicia’s message was powerful and struck me to the core.” “Hadn’t ridden a horse or been on a hayride for a very long time. It was so fun!” These are just a few of the comments from ladies who gathered in September for the Retreat.

Mark September 15 & 16 (Friday, the 14th will be optional) on your 2012 calendar and plan ahead to attend the Women’s Retreat! Come with your sister, sister-in-law, mother, mother- in-law, daughter, friend, or come by yourself. It is a great time to catch up with friends & relatives, and also make some new friends. You WILL be blessed!

Women's Retreat 2010 - "Waiting"

“This was the BEST Women’s Retreat I have ever been to!” wrote one participant on her evaluation. There were many more comments such as this from the 89 women who attended.

Dani Tietjen from Minneapolis, returned to speak and many women were touched and drawn closer to Jesus! It seems as though we are all waiting for something—the real question is, “What are we doing while we wait?” How do we live in faith and trust God in our waiting? What can we learn while we wait? The women attending have a new perspective on “waiting.”

We enjoyed digging into God’s Word, worship, a time of solitude, small group discussions, trail rides, crafts, a hayride, an indoor “campfire,” s’mores, and laughing! It all added up to a very God-blessed weekend.

We had so much fun donating school supplies and backpacks and then packing 193 backpacks for children in Haiti. We also boxed up many supplies for two different schools. The summer campers had donated school supplies all summer—so we had A LOT! So great to see people’s generosity! Thank to all of you who gave to this project!
