Farewell "Open House" for Dan Scharnhorst
We would like to invite you to a FAREWELL OPEN HOUSE in Dan’s honor on Friday, June 20 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the dining hall. Please come and tell Dan how much you appreciate him, how he’s touched your life with Jesus, and share in some great fellowship and dessert.
It’s hard to even think of saying farewell to Dan Scharnhorst! But... he is leaving Riverside at the end of June. Anyone who knows Dan, loves him! He has led the Program Team in a way in which others want to follow. Talented, humorous, and full of life itself describe Dan. The Good News of Jesus Christ has been shared with thousands through his leadership and ministry at Riverside.
Our year round staff wants to thank Dan for being part of the team! We have had many great times together – planning, laughing, evaluating, laughing, working, laughing, and praying together. We share our lives with each other on our staff and we have enjoyed Dan, Becky and their 10 month-old son, Max, so much. We love them as family and will really miss them. We pray God’s richest blessings for them in this new chapter of their lives. They will be moving to Oshkosh, WI where they both have positions at Peace/First English Lutheran Parish working with youth and adults.
Riverside would like to announce the hiring of Jason Van Hove as our new Program Coordinator. Jason has been serving as the Outdoor and Youth Ministries Director at
Riverside for 3 years. He will begin his new position on first of July.
Jason brings a wealth of creativity, leadership, personality and relational skills that make him a perfect fit for this new position. Above all else Jason has a passion for sharing the Gospel with all he meets and is committed to keeping the Riverside programs in tune with that ideal.
Jason is very excited about his new role at Riverside and looks forward to working more closely with our summer staff, campers and congregations.
Jason and his wife, Julie, live in Story City with their daughter, Zoe, (20 months) and are expecting a new baby in late June.
