People always ask us, “What’s so special about camp?”

Riverside offers an experience that focuses on the whole camper. The physical benefits of camp are many, offering youth an active camp experience in which they are able to exercise and play in a safe and fun environment. Camp offers knowledge of God’s word and challenges campers to think deeply about how God’s word is active in their lives to benefit them mentally.

At Riverside, we strive to create a comfortable and encouraging social environment for youth to grow friendships and learn what Christian community is all about. Finally, the eternal benefits of camp are great too! We focus everything we do on the good news of Jesus Christ and a God that desires a relationship with us that will last forever.

So, what’s so special about camp? God is at work at Riverside, impacting the whole person for our good and His glory!

Summer Camp at Riverside

Typically our campers arrive on Sunday afternoon and depart on Friday afternoon. In between the week is spent playing games, meeting new friends, in Bible study, chapel time, in the rec hall, riding horses, going to campfire, swimming and on and on and on.

While here each camper is assigned to a cabin group of campers and one or two counselors. Our Senior Counselors are college students who have a passion for Jesus and for sharing the good news. Our Junior Counselors are High School students who volunteer their summer to assist Senior Counselors and to live and learn in an amazing Christian environment. Our counselors are here to get to know and build a relationship with the campers as they show and share the love of Jesus.

Each summer the Bible study is built around a central theme for the week. Each day “sub” themes are introduced that fit into the theme for the week. The “sub” theme is presented each morning in chapel with skits, songs, scripture and a message.

In addition to games and fun and all the crazy things that happen during the week of camp, there is time set aside each day not only for Bible study, but for quiet time. This is a 15 – 20 minute period each day for all of us to calm our hearts and minds and to listen to the Lord through scripture and prayer.

By the end of the week we are confident that you will have had an experience unlike any other. We are confident that you will grow in your faith and knowledge of Jesus and that you will have experienced his unfailing love.
