Family Camp

Summer 2017

Join us for an awesome week of Family Camp, either July 2-5 or August 13-16! That's right! Due to having so many families wanting to come to family camp at Riverside and having a waiting list in 2016, we are adding another week of Family Camp for 2017! Join us for a week of setting aside time to grow as a family in your journey with Christ. Be sure to register early, as we expect family camp to fill up again this summer. Here's what you can expect. Each morning families will gather in the chapel for singing, skits, and sharing of God’s Word. Following chapel time, all the children will be divided according to age groups and will spend the morning with our amazing counselors and experience a time of learning more about Jesus and experience some really fun activities! While the kids are hanging out with our staff, the adults will be hearing from our wonderful guest speakers, Andy and Heather Hermanson (July 2-5) or Tim and Kris Boettger (August 13-16).

Many activities will be offered during Free Time each afternoon. Families will enjoy swimming and relaxing poolside at our aquatics center, horseback riding, Rec Hall fun—carpetball, foosball, Camp Store, Art Fun, and Family Bonding time! If the water level is appropriate, families may canoe the river from Riverside to Story City. Evenings will be filled with many great family activities, including campfires and the Mime. Families will also experience Riverside’s FAMOUS parade and barbeque dinner. We hope to see you there!

Meet our Speakers

Andy and Heather Hermanson (July 2-5)

The Hermanson Family

Andy and Heather Hermanson currently live in Urbandale, Iowa and in the past 12 years of marriage have also called Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles, California home. As a couple and as a family they enjoy almost anything outdoors, time with family and friends, as well as continually searching for the world’s best cup of coffee.

Andy serves as a teaching pastor specializing in leadership development at Lutheran Church of Hope’s West Des Moines campus, while Heather makes sure more and more people know about the work God is doing at Wildwood Hills Ranch in St. Charles.

Andy and Heather are the parents of Gwenyth (8), Callan (6), Violet (4) and Gabe (2) and still aren’t quite sure how they’re going to survive. They do know however, God is an incredibly loving and faithful father who loves us too much to leave us alone and have devoted themselves to helping as many as possible live the story God has for their lives through a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Tim and Kris Boettger (August 13-16)

Tim and Kris Boettger

Tim and Kris Boettger live and minister together in Cedar Falls, Iowa. In addition to being a wife and mother, Kris runs Barn Happy, a restaurant, coffee shop, and Iowa goods store in a barn on their acreage. She has also worked as a Dale Carnegie Instructor and Children’s Ministry Director. After spending 20 years as a Teaching Pastor and Director of Marriage Ministries at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, Tim recently took a position as The Director of Spiritual Care in The Western Home Communities in Northeast Iowa. The couple has two children. Isaac is a student/football player at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and Adrienne is a student/basketball player at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Tim and Kris share a passion for the Kingdom of God, the importance of strong families and marriages, and the power and grace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
