Summer 2018 Mission Project

Every summer, the Lord leads people from all over the world, and all over the midwest to Riverside. We love how God works in powerful and life changing ways through time here on site and through our Day Camp ministry every summer. A week at camp can be a week that changes lives for the better, not because of a really awesome swimming pool or great worship, but because of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit moving in the lives of God's kids.

God does great things in a week of camp and every summer, we want to remind our campers that He can also use us to make a life changing impact in the lives of others. Every summer in recent years we focus on a summer mission project, and summer 2018 will be no different. In Summer of 2017, we collected thousands of pairs of men's socks for Hope Ministries shelters, blessing many men with the practical gift of socks. And now, in summer of 2018, we are excited to partner with several food pantries and food banks in our local area for our "Summer 2018 Seek First Food Drive"!

There are many students in local schools that eat their only full meal each day at their schools--not at home. Resources can be difficult to come by for families, and often times shelves can run close to empty. This summer, we're inviting all of our campers to bring specific items to have an opportunity to bless people with the provision of food. All donations will be distributed weekly to food pantries in the Story County area around Riverside. Here are the details!

What to bring? Peanut butter and jelly (no glass containers please) and canned fruit.

Where do I bring it? We will have a large collection box in the upstairs of the Dining Hall when you come to register.

When do I bring it? Bring your food items with you to camp when you come for check-in on Sunday (Or Wednesday for Wednesday-Friday Alpha campers)

What else can we do? Get involved with your local food pantries in your community and pray for the Lord to bless those who will eat this food, that they would know the incredible love of Jesus Christ in their life.

If you have any other questions about our summer mission, or you'd like to volunteer to help with organizing and distributing food throughout the summer, please contact Program Coordinator, Chris Dahl (chris@riversideLBC.org).

God bless you and see you this summer!
