October Updates from Riverside!

One of our families from this past summer shared this encouragement from their time here this summer:

“You are on holy ground, doing holy work. Don't ever stop. I arrived shortly before 2:00 and witnessed 2 at 2, as an entire camp of teens fell silent to pray. It brought me to tears. DON'T EVER STOP!”

I couldn't agree more. So many people reference the Riverside property as holy ground. A place where the presence of God is experienced in tangible ways, and we're led to respond to his goodness, His grace, His love, His truth, and the life that He alone brings. And, no, we don't plan on stopping-we continue to press in to how God wants to continue to use His camp for His continued purposes for many, many years to come!

Here are some updates on what's going on around the ministry of Riverside!

*New* Guided Silent Retreat for Pastors.

Sunday November 14 at 6:30pm-Tuesday November 16 at 10:30am

Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary, tired, and heavy laden; and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give is light.” Matthew 11:28.

Know a Pastor in your life that could benefit from a time away? Join us at Riverside for a time of resting in the presence of God with other ministry leaders. This is not another conference to attend, but simply a time to be with the Lord alone and in community. Our programmed time will be minimal, with plenty of time for you to hike the grounds of Riverside, fish in the river or pond, canoe or kayak, sit and read by the fire, or rest in your cabin. Delicious meals and snacks throughout our time will be provided by our great staff, and you can choose to eat alone or together with others. Our short worship and devotion time will be led by Pastor Kendra Diehl from Edina, Minnesota. To register, call or email our office at 515-733-5271 or RLBC@RiversideLBC.org. For questions or more information, contact Chris at 515-733-5271 or Chris@riversideLBC.org.

The cost for this retreat is $150/person and includes 4 meals, snacks/drinks, and individual lodging. Scholarships are available if needed. Space is limited, so register soon!

Around Camp.

We have lots of projects going on 'behind the scenes' around camp right now!

  1. Aaron/Zion Cabin is getting lots of work done on it right now! New steel roof from derecho damage, new siding/paint on the exterior, and new front porches. We're excited to get this work done hopefully before snow flies!

  2. New trails! Thanks to our great staff, we have added some new horse/hiking trails around camp, along with all new scripture signs mounted throughout the trails.

  3. Stump grinding. We've unfortunately had to take down so many dead trees over the last 2 years. While we've been taking down trees by ourselves and with the help of Valley Disaster Relief, we're so grateful to have help in grinding down these stumps for safety around camp!

  4. Retreat Center Remodel. This is going to be a big one! Beginning in mid-November, we will begin a 3 month remodel of the Retreat Center. Look for more on this to come! We're thankful to many volunteers and a generous gift from Lutheran Church of the Cross to help make this project happen!

EXCITING NEWS COMING IN NOVEMBER!

Get ready for some exciting news coming in November's update! That's all we'll say for now to keep you on the edge of your seat!

We're so grateful for your continued partnership in the Gospel! God's blessings to you, friends! Looking forward to connecting with you again soon!

In Christ,

Chris and the Riverside team
