Summer is here!
"Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4
We've been praying and preparing for this summer for the last two years! The pool is filled, we've already had a week of leadership training, and now two weeks of training with the rest of our summer staff to prepare for campers on Sunday June 13! We have an incredible staff that we believe God has led here for a great summer of ministry! Here are a few updates from around camp as we head into June!
Summer Camp Update.
We're thankful that the Lord has led more staff here at the end of May, which has allowed us to open up more camper spots for the summer! To checkout what weeks still have openings, head on over to our website to see!

Tent Update.
Our giant 40ft x 180ft was setup just in time for staff training at the end of May! We're grateful for a great crew of volunteers from St. Mark in West Des Moines, generous donors for tv's and technology donations, and several local churches for the donation of folding chairs for seating this summer! We started to notice a few rips at the seams and after discussion with our tent company, we unfortunately were told by the company there is a defect in the design and it needed to come down immediately. Bummer! Good news? We're getting two brand new, more sturdy frame tents that will add up to the same size and should be here by the beginning of week 3. Thanks to our tent company for taking such good care of us!
5K/Quilt Day Coming Up on Saturday August 7!
It's back in full force! This year's 5K and Quilt Day, one of our biggest fundraising events, is back with a normal schedule of events in person. We will plan on doing as much as possible outdoors, including the live auction underneath the tent. We look forward to this giant party, celebrating God's work through Riverside, and joyfully giving towards the life-changing ministry of Riverside. New this year will be a virtual silent auction that will be available throughout the week leading up to Saturday's event. For more information on the days events, head on over to our website!
A Night at Riverside Sunday night August 29.
Join us for a fun night supporting the ministry of Riverside. The evening will include delicious appetizers, meal, dessert, and live entertainment all under the Riverside Tent. With not being able to have our annual Gala in April, we wanted to create this opportunity to enjoy an evening with friends and family, all while generously supporting the ministry of Riverside. Be thinking about who you could invite to fill a table of 8-maybe even friends and family that have never heard of Riverside. More information and invitations to come.
New Memorial Bench at Camp.
The family of Carroll and Mary Jane Johnson recently gathered together out at Riverside to
see their parent's new memorial bench located by the Chapel. We're grateful for Carroll and Mary Jane's partnership in the Gospel for many years, and thankful for the continued relationships we have with their family.
