Ride With the King

About Ride With the King

Ride With the King has been a great program that has been growing bigger and bigger each year. Ride With the King has three programs: Mother-Daughter, Beloit, and Ride With the King Kids. All three programs center on fellowship, spiritual growth, and of course, horse-back riding! Ride With the King is a ministry using horses as a tool to help people of all ages understand Christ’s unconditional love in a way that encourages them to live for Him.

Mother-Daughter Overnight 2021

Our Mother-Daughter Ride with the King overnights continues to be big hits!  This event involves lots of “horse time,” learning how our faith connects with horses, trail rides, and horsemanship, and terrific fellowship with the other attendees as we spend an overnight together. Several moms attend for the express desire to share in their daughter’s passion for horses. That speaks volumes to these young horse lovers. (Mom’s passion also grows!) Some moms are horse-crazy themselves!

Everyone enjoys the beauty of fall at Riverside with wagon rides, games, trail rides, a delicious cookout, and special times/activities/devotions for mothers and daughters. It is a great time of laughter, play, and prayer! These dates will fill up quickly and we usually have a waiting list, so if you are interested in next fall, register early! Registrations are already being accepted. Mothers and daughters of all ages are welcome; the daughters must be in 3rd grade or older.

NEW THIS YEAR - we listened to your feedback and we appreciate how much you enjoy spending time at camp! If you desire to come on Friday afternoon/evening, we'd be happy to have you stay with us an extra evening. For $25 per person, you will be able to stay on Friday night and enjoy a bountiful brunch on Saturday mid-morning. Friday supper and Saturday lunch (if you're even hungry after brunch) are on your own.

Ride with the King for Kids 2021

RWTK for Kids- Saturday, September 18! This is for kids who are in 3rd-5th grade in the fall.

Do you have a child who is not old enough for Summer Ranch Camp, but would absolutely love some time at Riverside with our amazing horses? Well then, our Ride with the King for Kids program is for you!

Biblical truth is taught as you learn to groom, tack, work with, and ride “your” horse. You will learn horse instincts, how to be around a horse and lots of horse sense! Come with your friends and also meet new friends! Our staff is very excited to work with you! And our horses would really enjoy your company!

No experience is required. If you are already a good rider, we think you will still enjoy “Ride with the King” as we teach about Jesus right along with our teaching about horses. Come and learn something new—tune up your riding skills!

Join us at the Ranch from 12:30-4:30. It will be a great day of horse’n around with lots of fun and learning. Gather some friends and come on over to Riverside!

The cost is $50/rider. To sign up, click the registration link below. If you have questions, please call the office and ask for Hilary 515-733-5271.

Beloit

Beloit, a Lutheran Services in Iowa Residential Treatment Center in Ames, has been bringing children who have behavior and/or psychological disorders to Riverside weekly since 2005. Therapists and others working closely with the children at Beloit have found great value in allowing the children to experience “Ride with the King.”

We highly value our SPURS (Hebrews 10:24), local high school youth volunteers, who come every Wednesday to develop friendships with the children and to help ensure their safety around the horses. This past year 16 youth have come to volunteer through the spring and fall. They are essential to the success of this program. They are displaying unconditional love to the children every week. It is such a joy to work alongside them, teaching the children such things as Jesus’ love, He knows the number of hairs on their heads, what forgiveness really looks like, overcoming obstacles and more!
