2020 Women's Retreat
September 25-27, 2020
We couldn't be more excited for our 2020 Women's Retreat which will be ALL weekend September 25-27. Friday night will be a low key start with speaker sessions and small groups beginning Saturday morning!
There's a lot of meaning to those two words, and there's a lot packed into the ellipse that follows. What's the "even though" in your life? The things that threaten to keep you from a fully-enriched relationship with Christ?
Explore ways to rejoice in the Lord and experience goodness and joy "even though" at this year's Women's Retreat.
"...EVEN THOUGH the olive crop fails
and the fields lie barren...and the cattle barns are empty,
YET I WILL rejoice in the LORD!"
Cory wears a handful of hats and joins us from Huxley, Iowa. She's a worship leader, national speaker, school teacher, and leads a ministry at Harvest Vineyard Church that encourages women to grow in grace, spiritual identity,
and Biblical perspective. Cory believes in honoring childhood, in keeping her phone on silent, and in using her library card. She still uses a paper calendar to make life happen and frequently burns dinner. Cory loves to sing and speak about the beauty of God and has a passion to see people reached with the love and goodness of the Father. Journaling the sacred is her current growth curve. She launched a church with her husband Josh, folds laundry for six kids, (this is a large and very real number), and is a believer in fresh starts, new mercies, and a thermos of coffee in the woods.
Getting a feel from last year!
The weekend of September 28-29 we gathered 127 women from all over Iowa and enjoyed the beautiful season of fall, joining together for a weekend of fellowship with women of ALL ages and backgrounds.
This was a weekend to be loved, served, taught, and entertained. Great food was prepared, with no cooking or cleaning for our attendees to do before or after! We laughed, played, and prayed; we reconnected with friends and made new friends and enjoyed time in God's Word. We enjoyed God's creation by taking advantage of so
many free-time options, such as horseback riding, taking walks, guided painting, or enjoying a wagon ride around camp. God's creation is so beautiful and this was a great time of year to appreciate the outdoors. Snack mix, chocolate, and coffee with plenty of creamer options was never much farther than an arms-reach away!!
Our retreat began at 8:30 am on Saturday and concluded with a delicious and abundant noon brunch on Sunday morning.

This year we decided to love on the staff that care for and love on children at both Beloit in Ames as well as Bremwood in Waverly, both LSI organizations who care for youth in residential treatment centers. We prepared "Breakroom Baskets" for all of their shifts to enjoy. Snack foods, candy, word game books, hand lotions, etc. To accompany our abundantly-filled baskets, we spent some time writing notes of encouragement and affirmation to these caregivers so that they know they are valued, appreciated, and prayed for!
The response of our attendees was overwhelming - we collected SO many things for these breakroom baskets, we unanimously decided to spread the love and will be delivering additional baskets to other care organizations that look after youth in 24/7 environments/facilities. THANK YOU LADIES, for your generousity and thoughtfulness - we are blessing many caregivers with your gifts and notes!
