2020 Women's Retreat
was a Blast
Check out some photos from this incredible retreat this year! So thankful for some awesome ladies coming out to retreat and hear from God.
There's a lot of meaning to those two words, and there's a lot packed into the ellipse that follows. What's the "even though" in your life? The things that threaten to keep you from a fully-enriched relationship with Christ?
Explore ways to rejoice in the Lord and experience goodness and joy "even though" at this year's Women's Retreat. Cory is a passionate speaker and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her carve out this weekend just for us. You will delight in her message, be inspired by her dynamic energy, be engaged as she leads us in worship. This event is meant to be a 'sweet' time spent with our Father and we look forward to welcoming women to camp who are ready to have their spirits nurtured in the midst of a season of uncertainties for all of us.
"...EVEN THOUGH the olive crop fails
and the fields lie barren...and the cattle barns are empty,
YET I WILL rejoice in the LORD!"
Cory wears a handful of hats and joins us from Huxley, Iowa. She's a worship leader, national speaker, school teacher, and leads a ministry at Harvest Vineyard Church that encourages women to grow in grace, spiritual identity,
and Biblical perspective. Cory believes in honoring childhood, in keeping her phone on silent, and in using her library card. She still uses a paper calendar to make life happen and frequently burns dinner. Cory loves to sing and speak about the beauty of God and has a passion to see people reached with the love and goodness of the Father. Journaling the sacred is her current growth curve. She launched a church with her husband Josh, folds laundry for six kids, (this is a large and very real number), and is a believer in fresh starts, new mercies, and a thermos of coffee in the woods.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As mentioned earlier, we will have an optional Friday evening add-on for this year's retreat. We will prepare delicious heavy hor'doevres and a guided activity for the later evening. The activity is completely optional - we anticipate some participants may equally appreciate the opportunity to pick up their food and retreat for some alone-time elsewhere on camp, or may just desire to get some extra rest. There is no wrong way to spend your time. After all, this is your time and we want to you enjoy yourself fully and be restored. Adding the Friday evening option is $20 for those staying at camp as well as for commuters.
We will gather beginning at 8:30am on Saturday for our first session. Breakfast refreshments will be available and you can plan on plenty of hot coffee and tea all weekend long!
Registration will include a seat at all speaker sessions, small group studies, worship, three meals on Saturday, two meals on Sunday, snacks, an array of free-time options, a bountiful pouring on of encouragement and inspiration, as well as so much more. Be sure to mark this on registration so we can include you as we prepare and schedule those optional activities. Your registration and cost options are:
Arrive Friday evening, staying at Riverside = $105
Arrive Saturday morning, staying at Riverside = $85
Arrive Friday evening, staying off-site = $95
Arrive Saturday morning, staying off-site = $75
As usual, you will have the ability to stay right here in one of our cozy cabins on camp. We anticipate that groups of ladies will register together and we encourage that - this will allow us to place you and your close peers in a cabin together. For those ladies who come independently and will be possibly lodging with women they don't know, we will keep our cabin numbers lower than usual and use more cabins to allow for that.
Additionally, we have partnered with the Comfort Inn in Story City as another option for lodging if you personally do not feel comfortable being in a cabin with ladies you do not know. Rooms are available for $75 per night. Call 515-733-6363 and let them know you want a room in the Riverside Women's Retreat block. Reservations need to be made at the Comfort Inn by 9/18/2020 if you are choosing this option.
ADDITIONAL COSTS (optional)
Horseback Trail Ride = $15
Craft Activity = $8
We have prayed for months for God to lead us into this fall and provide direction for our team as we look at this season of programming. We also gathered a task force of professionals, camp staff, parents, a physician, and others to discuss the implications of having or not having our usual fall events take place. We eventually determined and felt a strong leaning in the direction of welcoming guests and campers to Riverside once again. We are committed to putting measures in place to mitigate as much COVID risk as we are able, but ultimately, we trust each family will make an individual determination for themself and their situation whether the value and fulfillment in attendance outweighs risk.
Our team will spend some time coordinating smaller groups that will participate in small group studies and rotate through the free-time activities together. This will allow us to have some control over the group sizes and maximize physical, social distancing where possible.
**PLEASE KNOW: It is the strong recommendation of our Riverside team that camp guests exercise a safe physical, social distance of at least six feet from others when able and when that is not possible, we request masks be worn. This is of particular importance anytime we are indoors at the Chapel, in the Dining Hall, and in shared public bathrooms. It will be the decision of the individual whether they wear a mask when in their cabin.
